Benefits & Features

  • HD-compatible 24-bit digital delay for live broadcast preventing profanity or unwanted comments from reaching the airwaves.
  • Adds RS-232, AES3/EBU, digital audio I/O and TC89 time code integration to the 6000’s feature set.
  • Up to forty (40) seconds of full bandwidth stereo delay (user programmable in 0.1 second increments).
  • User selectable delay algorithms. Tailored for music and speech.
  • Remotely controlled from the AirTools RC-6000 or from your custom panel.

Product Details

A 24-bit digital delay for live and syndicated broadcasts that makes it easy – and affordable – to prevent profanity or unwanted comments from reaching your airwaves.
6100 Broadcast Audio Delay offers up to 40 seconds of user-definable delay at a full 20 kHz range of stereo bandwidth. When the show begins, press START to begins digitally time-stretching the program, creating the specified reaction window of up to 40 seconds of delay time. Then simply push a button on the unit or a remote control panel to edit unwanted or offensive content. Select the splicing algorithm for music or spoken-word programming. Advanced features include digital audio I/O, TC89 time code integration and RS-232 remote control.

Keep your air clean and seamless with the 6100 Broadcast Delay.

Fine Points-

  • TC89 Offset Delay: User interface menus specify a constant offset time for the TC89 output to add delay to the studio clock TID (time in delay) display. This feature specifically accounts for uplink/downlink latencies or delays incurred from ISDN lines, codec's, satellite signals, and other interruptions. This time offset is adjustable from 0 to 60 seconds in half-second increments.
  • RS-232 Data Delay: In RS-232 delay mode, commands entering the unit on the RS-232 port will be delayed by the amount of current delay and then sent back out the RS-232 port. This feature accommodates migration from contact closure or relay-driven automation systems to serial data based automation systems.

6100 Software Upgrade Offer

Symetrix currently offers a firmware upgrade for the AirTools 6100 Broadcast Audio Delay, which adds the TC89 Offset Delay and RS-232 Data Delay features to any legacy 6100.

Upgrades are performed only at Symetrix headquarters. For full details, please contact Symetrix sales or support.

Output Connectors: XLR (Analog and Digital Audio); BNC (ESE Time Code)

Physical
Size: (HxWxD) 1 rack unit,
1.72 in. x 19 in. x 8.2 in. (4.37 cm x 48.30 cm x 17.15 cm)
Shipping Weight: 8 lbs. / 3.64 kg

Electrical
Power Requirements: 100 to 240 VAC, 50 Hz to 60 Hz, 25 Watts

Maximum operating ambient temperature: 30° C.

*NOTE: A high pass filter is engaged during build and exit modes when using the gap detector gap detect+catchup algorithms. During build and exit modes when using either of these algorithms, the frequency response will be down about -3 dB at 100 Hz.

Architects & Engineers Specifications

The Broadcast Audio Delay shall be a stereo model whose output is delayed by as much as 40 seconds, thereby allowing the operator to delete or "dump" unwanted audio. The Broadcast Audio Delay shall occupy one rack space (1U).

The inputs shall be active balanced bridging designs terminated with 3-pin XLR (AES/IEC standard wiring) female jacks.

The outputs shall be active balanced designs terminated with 3-pin XLR (AES/IEC standard wiring) male jacks.

Overall frequency response shall be 20 Hz to 20 kHz, +/- 1 dB, measured at +4 dBu output. There shall be no more than 0.01% harmonic distortion measured under the following conditions: +4 dBu input, +4 dBu output, 40 second delay, 1000 Hz test frequency.

When the unit is inoperative (either by loss of power, or via the BYPASS switch), the inputs and outputs shall be wired together.

The Broadcast Audio Delay shall be capable of operating by means of its own built-in power supply connected to 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz, 25 W.

The Broadcast Audio Delay shall be a Symetrix, Incorporated model 6100 BROADCAST AUDIO DELAY.
